These past months have been a whirlwind of activity, with lots of travelling delivering a diverse range of training for various clients.
It's been a fulfilling journey, albeit exhausting.
I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity to do what I love. My husband often remarks that I'm in 'my happy place' when I'm in the classroom, enjoying my time with clients.
Reflecting on my journey, I couldn't help but wonder how I arrived at this point of fulfillment.
How did I manage to align my passion with my profession, and spend so much time doing what I truly enjoy?
It's a testament to the power of our thoughts and aspirations. Whether we call it wishing, praying, or dreaming, our intentions have the potential to shape our reality. What we seek, we often find.
Have you ever experienced a wish coming true?
Sometimes, life unfolds so gradually that we fail to notice the transformation until it's complete, leaving us to ponder on the journey. On a personal level, my daughter just graduated from High School, it seems like only yesterday when I dropped her off on her first day. It's a reminder of how swiftly time flies.
However, it's crucial to understand that mere wishing is not enough to make things happen. It's the action that truly counts. Wishing serves as a catalyst, nudging us towards the path of action. When we believe in our ability to achieve something and envision it in our future, we are inspired to take the necessary steps to reach our goal.
As the quote goes “the best time to plant a tree is 5 years ago, the second-best time is right now”.
If you, or someone you know or manage is struggling to take action to achieve the results they are wishing for, try this exercise:
First, write down what is happening right now and what results you are getting or not getting. Be specific, i.e.
I have a passion that I want to turn into my profession. I have done the research and gained the qualifications I need to provide the service, but I just don’t seem to be making progress in gaining clients.
Or:
I have a new team member who needs to deliver the results I expect. I gave them all the access they need and trained them on how to use the internal systems the rest of the team uses, but they are still not getting it.
Now, write down what success would look, feel and sound like. Write as if it is present tense.
I am running a full-time business with many collaborators and clients. I am earning enough income to support myself and the future growth of my business. I am living my passion and providing a great service to others.
My newest team member delivers on every project they are assigned. I create actionable developmental steps for them each time they are assigned a new or different project. They are happy and motivated and report to me regularly how they feel they are performing.
Close your eyes and visualize that last step. What do you see, hear, and feel? Make the picture in your head big and bright, colourful and loud. See the success and feel how it feels at that moment.
Then imagine you can see your past at that moment; what steps did you take to get there? What hurdles did you have to jump over? What challenges did you face and work through? What messages did you hear that you rephrased to move forward?
Take 3-4 large inhales and step out of the picture. See yourself in that place of success and believe that is your future.
Leave that picture in your future and know that you are now working toward that goal.
Keep notes of future goals somewhere you can easily access to keep that image alive.
Creating your future is the surest way of making it happen. Make sure your future is one of success, joy, and fun.
What do you wish for?
If you need help clarifying what that future might look like, let me know. I can provide you with coaching on creating goals, and if you have limited beliefs or barriers in the way, we can work to remove them and get you on the path to success.
If you require assistance in steering your teams towards success, I'm here to lend a hand. I can aid you in pinpointing performance gaps and devising a strategy to bridge them, leading your team to achieve great results.
Don’t just rely on wishful thinking, take action.
